Ricky Ponting had certain traits as a fielder which made him absolutely lethal on the field. He had a pair of bucket hands that seemed to gobble up anything and everything that was hit their way, and possessed the raw strength in his legs to reach out to those catches.
Though, more importantly, he was unafraid of the ball regardless of the might it was struck with and always wanted the ball to come to him, a sign of a fielding great. While men at short-leg duck for cover at the sight of a batsman transferring his weight on the backfoot, Ponting held firm to intercept a cold-blooded pull with aplomb.
Enjoy an all-time great catch from Ricky Ponting as Simon Katich, who turns 46 today, picked up a SIX-wicket haul back in 2003 pic.twitter.com/eTtdlczP72
