(Photo) 35 long deliveries and almost an hour later, Cheteshwar Pujara gets off the mark

Cheteshwar Pujara finds himself in a hugely tricky phase of his career. Fighting for his place at Lord’s on the fourth day of the second Test match, he took more than 20 deliveries to get off the mark for the third time this year. To be more specific, it was on his 35th ball that he finally scrambled a single. That is the third-most deliveries he has faced before getting off the mark, behind the 54 he faced against South Africa in 2018 and the 36 against New Zealand in the WTC Final this year. Despite the tension, there was a wonderful moment around the ground as Lord’s cheered in irony for Pujara’s first run. Even the under-pressure number three mustered a relieved smile.
