Sri Lanka have omitted Inoka Ranaweera, the 40-year-old left-arm spinner, from the 15-player squad for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, announced by Sri Lanka Cricket on Friday, May 29. Ranaweera, a veteran of 91 T20Is, along with Rashmika Sewwandi and Dewmi Vihanga, who featured in the Sri Lankan squad that toured Bangladesh in April-May, are the three players left out of the side.

The Sri Lankan team, led by skipper Chamari Athapaththu, will begin their campaign with the tournament opener against England in Edgbaston, on June 12. They will then play New Zealand in Southampton, followed by clashes against West Indies and Ireland in Bristol. The last of their league game is set to be played against Scotland at Old Trafford on June 26. Their squad is set to depart from the island on June 3.
