Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh, a promising young talent from Maharashtra, has been ruled out of the remainder of Indian Premier League 2026 after sustaining a fracture to his right foot. The franchise confirmed on their social media channels that the 28-year-old all-rounder picked up the injury during the home game against Mumbai Indians on Saturday, May 2: the very game in which he made his IPL debut.
Head coach Stephen Fleming referenced the injury in his post-match press conference. “His improvement in recent weeks has been noticeable. He has been training really well at our academy sessions. We use two grounds, and he’s been very impressive. It’s disappointing that he got injured towards the end. The other point is that he can bat, and bat well, which is an area of big improvement. So he can genuinely be called an all-rounder,” Fleming said.
Earlier, the five-time champions replaced Mhatre with Akash Madhwal but are yet to name a replacement for Khaleel Ahmed. A decision on Ghosh’s replacement is expected in due course.
