John Simpson was the star performer on a historic Hundred evening for the Northern Superchargers on Thursday. They became the first team to reach 200 in the competition, and had John Simpson’s 71 not out off 28 balls to be thankful for.
The innings included eleven 4s and two 6. and came at a strike rate of 253. The Headingley crowd became increasingly enraptured as the ball flew to all parts, and the ECB will be have been left satisfied at home that the new competition has finally produced the big runs it had promised. The Superchargers eventually beat the Originals by 69 runs, moving to fourth in the table.
