Leggie Graeme Cremer returns to Zimbabwe squad after seven years

Leg-spinner Graeme Cremer has been recalled to the Zimbabwe squad after seven years as the Chevrons named a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan, beginning October 29 at the Harare Sports Club.

The 39-year old Cremer, who last represented his country in 2018, replaces seamer Trevor Gwandu in what is otherwise an untinkered Zimbabwe squad from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier campaign where they didn’t drop a single game to secure a spot at the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Captain Sikandar Raza continues to marshal a well-balanced unit that blends the wealth of experience with the promise of youth. The familiar pace-bowling duo of Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani will shoulder the fast-bowling responsibilities, while Brendan Taylor, on comeback trail in international cricket, takes the wicketkeeping gloves.

Among the new-age crop, Brian Bennett, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Brad Evans, and Tashinga Musekiwa have all been retained following strong showings in the qualifiers. Sean Williams, meanwhile, remains unavailable as he continues to attend to his personal obligations.

The three T20Is – scheduled for October 29, 31 and November 2 – will be played in Harare.
