Arch-rivals India and Pakistan gear up for the Asia Cup final, a first in the regional tournament’s four-decade history. Abhishek Sharma has been the cynosure of all eyes in this edition thanks to his mind-boggling strokeplay. The young left-hander is in tremendous form, and India’s winning streak in the competition is in large part down to the starts he has provided at the top of the order.
Abhishek has been the best batter of the tournament by a mile. He has 309 runs to his name in six innings. In fact, only Pathum Nissanka who smashed an incredible century against India in the last Super 4 match, has over 200 runs in the Asia Cup 2025 apart from Abhishek.
The swashbuckling southpaw also has the highest average (51.5) and strike rate (204.63) for any batter who has scored north of 100 runs in the competition. He is at the zenith of boundary-hitting charts with most fours (31) and sixes (19). Only Nissanka has been able to match his feat of racking up three fifty-plus scores.

Besides dominating all the batting lists, the 25-year-old finds himself on the verge of another special record. If Abhishek can manage to get into double digits when he opens the innings against Pakistan, he will enter an exclusive club of most runs in a T20I tournament for India, along with Virat Kohli.
Kohli aggregated 319 runs in the 2014 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka and that, till date, remains the record for most runs by an India player in a T20I competition.
If he achieves the landmark, it will be moment of great pride for Abhishek who has only played 23 T20Is for India, six of them in this Asia Cup. In his overall T20I career, the Indian wunderkind with a rapier-like bat swing has plundered 844 runs at a hugely impressive strike rate of 197.65, the best in the format. He already has two centuries and five half-centuries to his credit.
