With Haseeb Hameed one of three changes made to England’s eleven for the second Test against India at Lord’s, the home side look a very different outfit to Trent Bridge. It looks as if Hameed will be batting at three, and the Nottinghamshire man’s story of initial success, subsequent struggle and rejuvenation is an inspiring one.
Hameed also has under his belt that oh-so-rare attainment amongst the English batsmen of runs against India, coming of course in that brief but successful cameo on tour in 2016, but more recently and relevantly for a County Select XI last month. Hameed hit a fine Hundred and will source confidence in the way he played against the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.
