We have our first finalist! India defeat Australia in the first semi final in Dubai. Australia chose to bat and put on a par score of 264 courtesy of a Steve Smith’s pivotal knock. India had Kohli and Iyer to bail them out and Axar Patel as always to sort things out in the middle overs. Kl Rahul and Pandya put in the finishing touches to get the Indian team over the line. Let’s take a look at our heroes and villains.
Hero of the day: It going to be Kohli, Iyer and Rahul today who will run away with the award. To navigate through a turning track without losing wickets in a bunch was a great way to ensure India’s safe passage.
Loser of the day: This will probably be harsh but Cooper Connolly will bag the award tonight. A duck off 9 balls and a drop catch is not the best way to slalom into the team. He did come back with a wicket but his contributions could have been much more.
Déja Vu Moment of the day: Rohit was dropped twice today. The second time he was dropped by Labuschagne, similar to the dismissal he had on the 19th of November 2023. Only that time the catch was taken by Travis Head. If only Rohit had today’s luck on that day, India would have had another world cup in their trophy cabinet.
