England recieve some insults added to their injuries sustained from this Champions Trophy as they finish with a loss against South Africa in Karachi. With Buttler resigning a day before the game, England do not have a silver lining to look forward to or look back on.
Batting first, Englabr put up a measly score of 179 for the loss of all wickets. Root as always top scored with 37 and none of the batters could get going. South Africa in reply made it look easy as they chased the target down within 30 minutes. The heroes and villains of this game are:
Hero of the game: Rassie van der Dussen and the South African bowling attack are the recipients of this award. A clinical and calm 72 of 87 deliveries for van der Dussen was the perfect way for him to pick it up at the end of the group stage of the tournament. The South African bowling attack has always been potent and today they reaffirmed the claims. Jansen in particular was deadly upfront.
Loser of the game: England. I could just stop here and it would require no further explanation. A resigning captain, no balance in the squad, England have no major positives to be mentioned or to be optimistic about. This tournament was a very shoddy and sad affair for the English cricket. The entire squad will be happy to be boarding the flight home early.
