Hello all and welcome back to our live blog covering the Champions Trophy taking place in Pakistan and Dubai. On the palate today we have age old rivals Australia and England facing each other.

Australia have won the toss and decided to bowl first.

48th Over
Australia cruise to victory!

Australia have taken the victory here at Lahore. Snatched it away from the grasp of the Englishmen. The highest chase ever in an ICC event. Take a bow Josh Inglis! Wonderful batting from him today. He was ably supported by Carey. Their partnership paved the way for an Aussie win today. England lost the match by letting the Aussies settle. This defeat will be hard to digest.

45th Over
100 for Carey!

Carey gets to his 100! What a knock. Amazing, superb, he has played the knock of his life. Pulls for six to reach his maiden ton for Australia. Fabulous way to display his ODI credentials. The job is not done yet, he will look to finish the game for Australia.

316/5 Australia.

42nd Over
Wicket! Carey departs!

Carse redeems himself! England needed a wicket and they have it now. Carey departs for a well made 69 runs. Tried to go over mid off but the ball went straight to the fielder placed there. Maybe a chance for England to come back into this game?

282/5 Australia.

40th Over
The last 10 overs

We are into the last ten overs of this game and it remains on a knife’s edge. Perhaps leaning a bit in Australia’s favour. 87 required off 60 balls.

Australia are 265/4.

38th Over
Carey is dropped!

Oh no, what’s happened here! Carey slaps Rashid over mid wicket and Jofra Archer standing at deep mid wicket puts the catch down! Is that the match dropped? That was a howler of a drop. That also brings up Carey’s 50. A gem of an innings. He will be thanking his luck, because he could have easily have been heading to the pavilion.

Australia are 260/4.

36th Over
100 run partnership

Carey and Inglis reach their 100 runs partnership rapidly. Great batting from both these batters. They do not look like faltering but anything can change. England need to change their tactics quickly.

Australia are 241/4.

33rd Over
50 for Inglis

50 for Australia’s keeper! A slight raise of the bat and some acknowledgment from the Australian camp. He remains Australia’s last hope along with Carey. A great knock so far, he will need to bat longer to win this game.

Australia are 222/4.

29th Over
50 partnership

A welcome partnership for Australia at this point. Carey and Inglis both have contributed equally for this. This has to be Australia’s banker, lose another wicket and the target becomes a lot tougher to chase.

Australia are 190/4.

23rd Over
England strike again!

That is the wicket they needed! Short is out! The batter tries to work the ball through mid on but the ball goes into Livingstone’s hands for a caught and bowled. That was truly a mighty good catch. England are cruising here.

Australia are 137/4.

20th Over
Breakthrough for England!

Just what England needed! Labuschagne nails a drive against Rashid but fails to get the elevation needed. Buttler at short cover takes the catch, which he certainly made look easy.

Australia are 129/3.

15th Over
50 for Short.

Short gets to a well made 50! His second over for Australia and the perfect time to bag it. Opening the innings is not easy and he has not looked in trouble at any point of time. A great partnership is also being stitched with Labuschagne.

Australia are 103/2.

5th Over
Wicket! 2 down now!

Smith tried to go covers against Wood but instead he catches an edge straight to first slip. Disappointing innings from Smith, just the two runs. Alarm bells rining for Australia.

27/2 Australia.

4th Over
Wicket! Head gone!

Head is puzzled by that! England don’t care as the danger man is gone. Archer’s delivery catches the toe end of Head’s bat and it launches straight back to Archer who takes the catch. Big, big wicket for England.

Australia are 21/1.

1st Over
Back for the chase

Mathew Short and Travis Head will open the innings for Australia. Wood is handed the new ball by the skipper.

50th Over
End of the England innings.

Right then, a late cameo from Archer brings down the curtains on the English innings. With those late hits they have reached their highest total in Champions Trophy history. It is all down to a great knock by Ben Duckett, who scored 165 runs himself. It was a mature performance by England on a great wicket here at Lahore.

Australia face a challenge now. They did well to get some wickets by the end but face another challenge now. A big total to chase, let us see how they do.

50th Over
Wicket!

Australia have definitely made some inroads in this England team in these last overs. Carse takes the aerial route but fails to gain the distance. Labuschagne, the bowler gets under it rather acrobatically and completes the catch.

England are 349/8.

48th Over
Wicket! Duckett out!

A very soft dismissal! Labuschagne gets the main man, finally. The anchor of this England innings gets done by a short, dragged down delivery and gets trapped before the stumps. What a treat this innings has been from Duckett. 165 runs scored, a superb effort.

England are 325/7.

47th Over
Wicket! Livingstone out!

Dwarshius gets Livingstone! Just as England were about to cut loose and Livingstone looked primed to do just that. A slower delivery by the bowler which Livingstone hacks to backward square leg. Ellis stationed there makes no mistake at all.

England are 317/6.

41st Over
Wicket!

Wicket! Buttler goes! A pretty simple dismissal, that one. Maxwell bowls one outside off without much turn and Buttler tries to up the ante and go over deep mid. The ball instead goes flat straight into the hands of Nathan Ellis standing there.

England are 280/5.

40th Over
Into the last 10.

After 40 overs, England have accumulated 268 runs, which is a great score to have at this point. Duckett is still out in the middle on 140 and the skipper Buttler is providing ample support from the other end. Australia will need to constrict them further if they wish to chase a lower target that what is being projected right now.

37th Over
Maximum!

A no ball off Zampa’s last ball turns costly! Duckett makes the most of it by dancing down and taking the ball on full for a six over long on. That takes Duckett to a score of 124.

England are 241/4.

35th Over
Wicket! Brook departs.

Another wicket for Australia! Carey with another beauty of a catch. Zampa continues to cause problems with his spells. Here he tosses one up again and Brook dances down to go down the ground but the ball catches the edge. Carey at backward point dives sideways to catch it and that makes it his third catch of the match.

England are 220/4.

32nd Over
Duckett gets his century!

Century for Duckett! Wonderful batting display from him! His third ODI ton and second against Australia. A strike rate of 106.00, a well paced ton from the leftie. Magnificent batting from Duckett as he brings it up with two carbon copy boundaries down the ground.

England 210/3.

31st Over
Wicket!

The breakthrough has arrived! It was the matchup that everyone touted to bring up a wicket. Zampa tosses one up to Root who tries to sweep it but misses by a mile. The ball hits the pads and the umpire judges Root to be out. Just what Australia needed at this point. Great innings by Root nonetheless.

England are 201/3.

25th Over
Halfway into the innings

Halfway into the innings and both batters looking really fluent today. Both have passed the 50 mark, Root is on 54 while Duckett is on 74. Great batting from these two.

England are 169/2.
