The Champions Bite: Bangladesh vs India

India strolled to a comfortable victory against neighbours Bangladesh in their first game of the Champions Trophy 2025. Shubman Gill shone with the bat with a fluent 100 to take India across the line. Let us look at the men in spotlight for today’s match.

Hero of the day: Shubman Gill will take this award today. A mature innings from the Punjab local, as he looks to have come of age in this format. Stood firm against the Bangla spin attack and picked the gaps well to continue his great form in this format.

Loser of the day: The Bangladeshi top order take this award all for themselves. The way they capitulated gave their side no hopes at all. Soumya Sarkar and Najmul Shanto both fell for ducks and they were soon joined by the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim.

Howler of the day: Jaker Ali dropped a dolly in the deep which would have seen the back of KL Rahul when India still needed 63 runs to win. Perhaps that catch cost Bangladesh the game as they had turned the screws on the Indian batting.

Injury Watch: There were no injuries today fortunately for both sides.
