Hello and welcome back to our blog covering England’s white ball tour of India! We are in the financial capital of India, Mumbai for the fifth and the final T20i between these two sides.
India, with their victory in the last game have taken the series and lead 3-1. One would have hoped to see some bench players play today but instead Suryakumar Yadav has only brought in Mohammed Shami. India have been impressive in this series but Sanju Samson’s and SKY’s form has been concerning to say the least. They will look to switch the tide on it in this match.
England bring in Mark Wood and will be looking ahead to the ODI series as their performance in this series has been severely disappointing. Not the ideal start Brendon McCullum was hoping for. The visitors will look to salvage some pride with a victory at the Wankhede today.
News from the middle is that England have again won the toss and put India to bat.
2 in 2 for Shami to finish off the match! Cramps Wood for room and the batter tries to dabble at the delivery and catches the glove. Jurel catches it safely and that brings up India’s 4th victory in the series. An absolute decimation of this England side, not only this match but overall in this series. Big question marks on this English side now…
A good return for Shami to the Indian side as he gets his second wicket of the game. Rashid tried to slap a short delivery but the ball only gained height and fell into Jurel’s gloves safely.
England are 97/9.
Dube with another one! England have tumbled down like dominoes. Great bowling display from India at the Wankhede today. Bethell goes to pull the ball but it was chopped onto the stumps. That should be game set and match.
England are 90/8.
He is omnipresent today, Abhishek! A second wicket for him courtesy of a great catch by the skipper SKY. Judged beautifully by him and that makes it his 50th catch in his career.
England are 90/7.
Abhishek can do no wrong today! Brought into the attack as a fresh option and just like Dube he strikes with his first ball. Carse tries to slap it downtown but Chakravarthy helps his fellow spinner out with a catch.
England are 90/6.
Dube strikes with his first ball of the series! Salt has to depart having reached his 50. Dube floats it up wide and Salt can only nick it to Jurel behind the stumps. England have lost half their side now.
85/5 England.
Salt is the only English batter to turn up this evening. He brings it up with a six off Chakravarthy. Well played by the opener, his best score of this series.
76/4 for England.
Livingstone could not stand still and goes for the big hoik, which you do not do against Chakravarthy. The ball gains height but not distance and finds the hands of Bishnoi at deep midwicket.
England are 68/4.
Bishnoi picks up where he left off from the last match and gets Brook! That is three down for England and troubling signs up in the air for them. They have no choice but to keep going.
England are 59/3
Chakravarthy gets a wicket on his first ball! The England skipper in search of sixes chops one to long off and the fielder makes no mistake at all. Big, big wicket for India.
49/2 for England.
Shami has brought it back after being slammed in the first over. England will look to accelerate further from here.
England are 31/1.
First one for India! Shami with the wicket, caught by Abhishek at covers. Duckett is gone for a golden duck, with the bat turning in his hand as he reached out to hit the ball.
England are 23/1.
Mohammed Shami strikes on his return for India, dismissing Ben Duckett for a duck.

Great over from Pandya. Just the second over of the innings and he has resorted to mixing up the pace behind his deliveries. It has worked wonders in this overs as Salt struggled to connect most of the deliveries.
England are 23/0.
Salt is not waiting around for anyone! 4,4,6 off the first three deliveries. Shami is getting tonked around. Clarity in thought for the English batsmen.
England are 17/0.
Phew! Let’s all have a breather now shall we? India finish on 247. A mammoth total but they cannot afford to let their guard down. England have in their armory loads of batting depth and with Buttler and Brook in form, anything can happen.
Axar Patel is run out! A desperate dive in the end, as he hoped to be on strike for the final delivery. He has pushed India close to 250, a daunting total on any track in this world.
247/8 India.
Abhishek falls finally, not without a flurry of boundaries against Rashid though. Rashid gets his man and the entire England squad shows up to shake his hand. The entire Wankhede stadium booms with shouts of ‘Abhishek, Abhishek’. What a treat this innings has been!
India are 238/7.
Abhishek who had slowed down after his ton, has found himself again. Two boundaries against Carse is just what India needed at this stage. Lovely batting.
India are 219/6.
Archer gets one! He has been bashed around the park today but he returns with Rinku Singh’s wicket. Trap Rinku from over the wicket and the umpire gives the batter out. India fumbling a little here.
India are 202/6
That is a very unusual dismissal! Pandya sweetly times a flick against Wood and he could not have hit that any better. But the ball flew to Livingstone at backward square leg. Even Pandya is surprised and wears a wry smile on his face.
India are 194/5
Hardik Pandya connects well, but picks out Liam Livingstone in the deep, departing for just 9.

A great pick up shot by Pandya! Wood is bemused by it as well! That is six for Pandya.
193/4 India.
Carse with a three-fer! He has been the shining light for England in this innings. Cramps Dube for space and gets him caught at fine leg. Dube departs having played a fiery cameo.
India are 184/4.
Shivam Dube's entertaining cameo comes to an end as India lose their fourth wicket.

Dube is dolling out punishment for Overton here! A six over long off and a four into the third man region for the southpaw. He races to 25 runs off 10 deliveries. There’s no stopping this carnage.
India are 172/3.
Now it’s Dube’s turn to give the England bowlers some grief! 10 off 2 deliveries against Archer. That also brings up India’s 150.
159/3 for India
England will hope for more such overs as only 5 runs came off that Carse’s over. Dube and Sharma are now in the middle for India.
India are 148/3
