The frustratingly fascinating Litton Das has been left out of the 15-member Bangladesh squad for the Champions Trophy to be held next month in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. Bangladesh chief selector, Gazi Ashraf Hossain, admitted in December that they were concerned about the keeper-bat’s lean returns. Litton endured a dud of the tour to the Caribbean, managing to score only six runs in three ODIs. Jaker Ali is set to don the gloves following Litton’s omission.
“Litton is out of form. His pattern of getting out is quite similar. He is not occupying the crease in the PowerPlay and as a result could not take advantage in the PowerPlay. He is getting exposed at number three. We still gave him chance but we are not having confidence in him,” Ashraf said.
Bangladesh are grouped with India, Pakistan and New Zealand in Group A of the Champions Trophy. They will open their campaign against India in Dubai on February 20.
