Head declared fit as Australia announce eleven for Boxing Day Test

The belligerent Travis Head aims to express himself at the crease.

Travis Head has been officially been declared fit ahead of the Boxing Day Test at the MCG against India. Australia captain Pat Cummins has also stated that Sam Konstas will make his debut and Scott Boland will return to the XI in the two changes the hosts have made to their playing XI.

Head complained of a minor quad strain while batting in the Brisbane Test last week. The Australian vice-captain underwent a rigid fitness test on Christmas Day and was ultimately cleared to play the fourth Test of the five-match series that is currently locked at 1-1.

Konstas will swap places with Nathan McSweeney, who has been dropped from the squad for the last two Tests after not measuring up to the expectations after earning his first Test cap in the series opener. All of 19 years old, Konstas is set to become the country’s youngest Test opener at the MCG.

Local hero Boland, on the other hand, will mark an appearance in the series after the second Test in Adelaide, replacing the injured Josh Hazlewood who has picked up a calf injury.

Australia XI: Usman Khawaja, Sam Konstas, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins (C), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland

Pat Cummins has announced Australia’s playing XI for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG, featuring two changes to the lineup.
