Welcome back to our live blog covering the 3rd Test between the Kiwis and the Three Lions! England have already won the series but have been through the ringer in this encounter. New Zealand have a mammoth lead of 340 runs and Williamson and Ravindra are out on the crease.
England’s batting display was shocking yesterday as O’Rourke completely ran through the visitor’s middle order. This test will be Tim Southee’s last one and they will look to end his career with a last hurrah and there would be no better way to do that than with a win.
We will have a delayed start to the day as there have been some showers this morning.
With two extended sessions, we had two messy sessions. Do not want these timings again.
Matt Henry is bowled by Bethell on a golden duck. No time wastage here at all. That wraps up New Zealand’s batting. England need 658 runs to win which at this point seem impossible.
Southee in his last ever batting innings, tries to step out and whack the ball but mistimes it and the ball goes to the fielder at long on. He did not trouble the scoreboard much.
Santner departs 1 short of his half century! What a great cameo this has been. 3 fours and 5 sixes in that quickfire innings from the all rounder.
Phillips is out! He departs without contributing much. Goes for a heave and find the fielder at deep square.
Mitchell finds the fielder at long on! He had smashes Bethell for a maximum in the same part of the ground but does not reep the same reward this time round. It was a praiseworthy performance from him.
Half a ton for Mitchell! He has been made to toil for it. When the Kiwis started to up the ante he played his part with aplomb.
Williamson gone! The top edge of his bat betrays him and Rehan Ahmed the substitute fielder gobbles the ball up. Bashir gets the scalp and England have finally got their man.
What a player he is! What a way to get to his 150! His love affair with this venue continues. He has showed no chinks in his armor today. Great batting. New Zealand have amassed a lead of 523 now.
The extended session comes to an end. New Zealand have marched on and have not stumbled at all in their innings. Williamson notched another ton, which was the main highlight of the session.
Dropped a bit short and Williamson latches onto it like a leech. Absolutely leathers the ball to the square leg boundary.
So close yet so far is the case for Ravindra again who falls 6 short of a half century! Potts is absolutely delighted with the wicket, and he was aided by Carse who took the catch.
What a way to get to your 100! Wow. Steps down the pitch and launches into the stand! This is his 3rd century in 7 innings at this venue.
Runs are not flowing for Ravindra as of now and it’s evident in his play right now. He seems to be taking his time as have New Zealand overall in this session.
A cheeky four for Williamson! In pursuit of a back foot drive the ball catches the edge and it flows over backward point.
Play is back on at Hamilton and Ravindra and Williamson are batting together again. There will be only two sessions of play today with the latter one being the longest, lasting 3 hours.
There is a much more intense shower now and additional covers are being deployed by the ground staff. We will have to wait longer for the play to start.
