Jos Buttler’s rollicking innings powered England’s chase in the second T20I as the visitors secured a 2-0 lead over West Indies with an emphatic seven wicket victory at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. A disciplined bowling show helped England limit West Indies to 158/8 before Buttler bashed a 45-ball 83, which included 8 fours and 6 sixes, to help his side attain the target in 14.5 overs.
West Indies weren’t able to curtail the run flow even after the fielding restrictions were lifted as Buttler dealt in sixes and brought up a 32-ball fifty, helping England to 94/1 at the halfway stage. Him and Jacks were batting in the 30s at the end of the eighth over but in the next four overs, the England captain raced ahead, entering the 80s. There was finally some respite for West Indies as Shepherd removed both Jacks (38) and Buttler in the same over to end a jumbo 129-run stand. Liam Livingstone’s 23* off 11, with three fours and a six, then ushered England over the line.
Brief scores: West Indies 158/8 in 20 overs (Rovman Powell 43, Romario Shepherd 22; Saqib Mahmood 2-20, Liam Livingstone 2-16) lost to England 161/3 in 14.5 overs (Jos Buttler 83, Will Jacks 38; Romario Shepherd 2-42) by 7 wickets.
