Tom Kohler-Cadmore plays an exquisite lofted on-drive

Kohler-Cadmore is an adroit wicketkeeper-batter and has become a regular feature in the franchise arena in recent years. In the immediate afterglow of his call-up to the England ODI squad for the Ireland series, Kohler-Cadmore struck an explosive 68 not out off only 31 deliveries in Taunton. The 29-year old hammered eight sixes in his belligerent knock to power Somerset to 404/4.

Jason Roy had declined the chance to re-join England for the rest of their ODI series against Ireland, and Kohler-Cadmore replaced Joe Root. Roy was consequently left out out of the squad for next month’s World Cup in India despite being named in the provisional 15, with Harry Brook taking his place.

Roy had missed the entire series against New Zealand with back spasms, paving the way for Dawid Malan to strengthen his candidacy for the trip to India. England had not handed a pink slip to the 33-year-old, inviting him to link up with the shadow group. However, Roy turned down the offer, casting doubt on his international future.
