Sunrisers Hyderabad won the Indian Premier League title in 2016 under the leadership of David Warner. They were runner-ups two years later in 2018, and made it to the playoffs in 2013, 2017, 2019 and 2020 as well. However, they haven’t cut the ticket to the playoffs in the past three years, and finished at the bottom of the standings in 2021 and 2023.
Ever since IPL 2021, SRH have appeared an unsettled unit and have changed captains thrice in as many years with Warner steering the ship in 2021, Kane Williamson in 2022, and Aiden Markram in 2023. There has been a lot of chopping and changing in the think-tank too. Trevor Bayliss was in charge in 2021, Tom Moody in 2022, and Brian Lara in 2023.
The schedule for the first phase of the Indian Premier League 2024 has been officially announced as 21 games are set to take place in this phase. Kolkata Knight Riders will take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the iconic Eden Gardens on 23rd March in their first game of IPL 2024.
