Kolkata Knight Riders took a hit as Jason Roy withdrew from the upcoming season citing workload management and the need to spend time with his family. KKR replaced Roy with another England batter in Phil Salt.
Fast bowler Gus Atkinson withdrew from IPL 2024 after England cricket board wanted to keep his body fresh ahead of a busy season. Mark Wood, who played the Test series in India, pulled out of IPL 2024 after Lucknow Super Giants bought him for Rs 7.5 crore.
Most recently, Harry Brook has withdrawn from IPL 2024 citing personal reasons. The England batter was bought for INR 4 crore by Delhi Capitals. The franchises argue that such unexpected and sudden pullouts disrupt their auction planning. Their top brasses are considering taking up the issue with the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
