Glenn Phillips is renowned for his acrobatic fielding. The second Test between New Zealand and South Africa saw him live up to the billing and the ongoing Test between Australia and New Zealand has only reaffirmed his credentials as a livewire.
South Africa were in trouble with a partnership between David Bedingham and Keegan Petersen for the fifth wicket approaching 100. In the 60th over of the innings bowled by Matt Henry, Keegan Petersen cut a back of a length delivery with panache and didn’t try to keep the shot down. Phillips, at gully, flew to his right and caught the ball single-handedly to complete a screamer. He let out a roar while Henry was also staggered by the effort as New Zealand finally managed to break the alliance that was threatening to take the game away from them.
This time around, Marnus Labuschagne was anchoring his side’s innings with a tenacious knock of 90. He narrowly missed out on his century, as he was denied by an incredible one-handed catch by Glenn Phillips at gully which ended his knock in the last over before Lunch.
