Alyssa Healy pulls Ayanda Hlubi for a crisp boundary

Stylish fifties from Beth Mooney (82 off 91) and skipper Alyssa Healy (60 off 73) followed by an excellent bowling display took Australia to a jumbo 110-run win (DLS method) over South Africa at North Sydney Oval on Saturday (February 10). South Africa’s chase never really got going due to a heap of early wickets and a lengthy rain break thereafter meant that their revised DLS target was practically out of reach. Kim Garth (3/14) set the platform upfront while Alana King (4/26) and Tahlia McGrath (3/23) exploited the scoreboard pressure to pick up a bunch of wickets.

The hosts put up a score just above the 275-run mark which was also possible due to King’s 12-ball 17 at the end. Eventually, the total proved more than enough for the world champions.

Brief scores: Australia 277/9 in 50 overs (Beth Mooney 82, Alyssa Healy 60; Masabata Klaas 4-56) beat South Africa 127 in 24.3 overs (Sune Luus 34; Alana King 4-26, Kim Garth 3-14, Tahlia McGrath 3-23) by 110 runs (DLS method).
