Jason Roy’s enormous six over cow corner won the Hundred’s ‘Play of the Day’ award as the Oval Invincibles beat the Trent Rockets by nine runs in a rain-affected game at the Oval on Sunday night. Roy would go on to hit 56 not out off 29 deliveries, including four 4s and as many sixes.
The game had been reduced to 65 balls a side, the Invincibles batting first and making a rather remarkable 125. That was almost entirely thanks to Roy, the next highest individual score being Will Jacks’s 13. The Rockets made a decent fist of the chace, with Alex Hales making 25 off 15 and Lewis Gregory 28 off 12, but ultimately fell short as Sunil Narine took 3-11 off his 10 balls.
