Footage of the Oak Hill Cricket Club ground in Wicklow suggests that this should be a pitch cricketing pilgrims flock to in order to enjoy the game. Many highlight the likes of Galle, the MCG, Lord’s and the Oval as the grounds-to-go-to, but at Oak Hill, surrounded by the county town’s rolling green hills and picturesque contryside, anyone with a favouring of life’s simpler pleasures would be well satisfied.
The ground was hosting an Arachas Super 20 Trophy match between the Scorchers and the Typhoons, which the former went on to win by seven wickets after comfortably chasing down a total of 97. Away from a one-sided match, eyes would have been drifting to the breathtaking setting.
