Part-timer Travis Head strikes twice in his first over

Gerald Coetzee has been providing able support to David Miller who continues to be the lone hope for South Africa in the bid to attain a respectable score. The pitch has started to spin and grip a lot more than earlier, so South Africa aren’t out of the contest just yet even as Australia continue to hold the aces.

The five-time World champions sent Quinton de Kock, Temba Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen, and Aiden Markram back to the pavilion to reduce South Africa to 24/4. Just when it seemed like South Africa were gaining some momentum after the top-order implosion, an inspired bowling change thwarted their progress. Travis Head came on and cleaned up Heinrich Klaasen, then had Marco Jansen trapped in front the very next ball to undo all of South Africa’s repair work.

The conditions have been overcast in Kolkata and the weather forecast doesn’t look promising, but it isn’t raining at the moment. The brief interruption earlier didn’t result in any loss of overs either.
