Warner holds onto thick edge as procession of wickets continues

Adam Zampa versus David Miller is a matchup that could be massive in the context of how the rest of South Africa’s innings pans out. The left-hander has dealt the opening punches with a couple of sixes over mid-wicket. Australia won’t mind his enterprise as one more wicket here gives them a crack at the lower order. If Miller stays till the end, a total in excess of 250 is a possibility.

Five-time World champions Australia are in the driver’s seat, having sent Quinton de Kock, Temba Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen back to the pavilion. The conditions have been overcast in Kolkata and the weather forecast doesn’t look promising, but it isn’t raining at the moment. The brief interruption earlier didn’t result in any loss of overs either.

Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc came in for Marcus Stoinis and Sean Abbott for Australia while Tabraiz Shamsi replaces Lungi Ngidi in the Proteas XI as South Africa elected to bat in the second semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023.
