Sophia Dunkley hit an unbeaten 50 off 28 balls to take the Southern Brave over the line in their chase of a revised 89 off 75 balls against the Northern Superchargers at the Ageas Bowl on Saturday. Her performance was complimented by that of another England youngster, Lauren Bell, who took 2-19 off her 20 deliveries.
Dunkley has had a landmark summer, having become the first black woman to play Test cricket for England and made her One-Day International debut. Before Saturday the 23-year-old’s form hadn’t yet continued into the Hundred, but she put any doubts to bed with a commanding knock, in which she brought up her fifty with the winning run.
