South Africa loot 173 off last 10 overs to break world record

An incredible double-hundred partnership between Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller, off just 87 deliveries, including a staggering 173 runs in the last 10 overs, knocking the wind out of Australia’s sails in the fourth ODI at SuperSport Park in Centurion. Adam Zampa had his figures razed in the process, leaking 113 runs in his full quota of 10 overs to share the untoward record of conceding the joint-most runs in the format.

South Africa were inserted and started the innings sedately in the fourth ODI in Centurion, before a fifty-run opening stand was cut short by Nathan Ellis who castled Reeza Hendricks for 28. Quinton de Kock fell trying to up the ante, and the wicket of Markram runs the alarm bells in the South African camp. However, a fifty from Rassie van der Dussen, managed to bail the hosts out.

Klaasen’s barbaric 174 catapulted South Africa to 417, a total which proved beyond Australia’s reach. As a result, the Proteas have drawn level 2-2 after conceding the first two matches.
