Relive Ben Stokes’ dazzling 6/22 against West Indies at Lord’s

Stokes celebrates.

In the first Lord’s Test match to commence in September, England lynchpin Ben Stokes, who hit the fastest Test century ever scored at the iconic venue in 2015, made hay in friendly conditions to become the eighth player, and sixth from England, to earn a mention on both batting and bowling Honours Boards. The Durham all-rounder’s lethal spell with the ball saw him dismiss Kieran Powell, Roston Chase, Shane Dowrich, Jason Holder, Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel as West Indies nosedived to 123 all out during their first innings.

Stokes swung the ball menacingly to bamboozle the Windies batters, returning sparkling figures that fetched him a coveted place on the Lord’s Honours board. The stadium is also known as the ‘mecca of cricket’.

Hosts England underperformed with the bat as well to post 194 in reply, but would eventually go on to win the Test by nine wickets to wrap up the series.
