Relive birthday boy Liam Livingstone’s jumbo 122m hit

England’s latest six-hitting machine Liam Livingstone celebrates his 30th birthday, and the occasion is ripe to gaze at his enormous, straight-as-an-arrow tonk in the second T20I against Pakistan.

Seamer Harris Rauf committed the generic error of feeding into Livingstone’s striking arc as the hammer-blow down the ground disappeared out of the stadium premises. It is supposed to have travelled an eye-popping 121.96 metres, and if that is the case, the gargantuan maximum could very well be the biggest six the record books have ever witnessed.

Livingstone ended up scoring 38 off 23 balls while Rauf endured a tough day at the office, conceding 48 runs in his allotted quota of four overs. The brawny right-hander checkmarked the three B’s of range-hitting – base, balance, bat speed – to give Rauf an absolute shellacking. It was a humongous strike that can demoralize any bowler. The commentators actually lost sight of the ball as it flew into the top tier of the stadium. Such was the ferocity of the blow that the Kookaburra, perhaps, transcended the roof.
