Stuart Broad draws first blood for England as his nip-backer strikes Usman Khawaja on the back pad. Even a review couldn’t save the southpaw as he walks back for 3.
Barring the loss of Khawaja, the visitors have had a reasonably good opening hour. England weren’t at their lethal best in terms of accuracy and Warner has shown good proactiveness at the crease and looked assured out there even if not spotless.
The Old Trafford surface seems decent to bat on with an ample amount of pace and bounce. There has been some swing but it hasn’t been anything outrageous like it was the case at Headingley on occasions.
