Jonny Bairstow’s miscue flies straight to mid-on

England imploded in the morning session on Day 3, losing 6/47 to proffer a handy 91-run lead to Australia. Half-centurion Harry Brook went for his shots despite Australia’s short-ball ploy, and he played one shot too many as his attempt to flat-bat Mitchell Starc through the offside resulted in a catch to Pat Cummins at cover.

Jonny Bairstow looked to play a lofted drive to a full delivery from Josh Hazlewood but could only make contact with the ball with the inner half of his bat, handing a catch to Cummins at mid-on. At the start of play on Day 3, Ben Stokes offered a leading edge trying to clip a good length ball that jagged back in. The extra bounce resulted in a miscue and Cameron Green held on to the ball at wide slip with his fingertips.

Josh Tongue was the last man out, falling to Pat Cummins as the hosts were bundled out for 325.
