Mohit, Gill the chief architects of GT’s resounding win over MI

Gujarat Titans have stormed into their second consecutive IPL final by defeating Mumbai Indians by a comprehensive margin of 62 runs in the second qualifier, even though the five-time champions showed the stomach for a fight. They lost Ishan Kishan before the innings began, and impact sub Nehal Wadhera was out first over, falling to Mohammed Shami.

The Indian spearhead struck again, as Rohit Sharma miscued his pull to fine leg. Tilak Varma came out and scored at a brisk rate, careening 24 runs off a Shami over. However, he was knocked over by Rashid in the final over of the PowerPlay. MI were buoyed by Cam Green and Suryakumar stitching a promising partnership before Josh Little knocked over the lanky Aussie. From there onwards, the chase went downhill as Mumbai Indians bowed out of IPL 2023.

The holders will now meet Chennai Super Kings in the grand finale on Sunday, May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
