Six franchises remain in contention for IPL playoffs

Royal Challengers Bangalore improved their chances of a top-four finish in Indian Premier League 2023 with their eight-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday, and sit pretty with a healthy NRR of +0.180 with a game in hand. They even have a shot at a top-two finish if both Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants lose their last games respectively and if they pip Mumbai Indians on NRR in case of a 16-points deadlock.

An explosive hundred by Heinrich Klaasen, Sunrisers Hyderabadโ€™s premier batter of the ongoing season, ushered the hosts to a competitive total of 186-5. However, a breathtaking performance by RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis left the SRH bowling unit devoid of ideas as they raced home by eight wickets.

As a result of the victory, Royal Challengers Bangalore remain in contention for the playoffs. Despite being a star-studded franchise, they are yet to clinch the coveted silverware.
