Virat Kohli notches up IPL hundred after four years

Royal Challengers Bangalore remain in contention for the playoffs in Indian Premier League 2023 as their openers whizzed past the target of 187 set by the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Thursday, May 18.

RCB won the toss and asked SRH to bat first. An explosive hundred by Heinrich Klaasen, their numero uno batter of the season, ushered the hosts to a competitive total of 186-5. However, a breathtaking performance by RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis left the SRH bowling unit devoid of ideas as they raced home by eight wickets.

Mohammad Siraj was outstanding again with the ball for RCB. He finished with 1 for 17 in his four overs, but SRH’s innings was all about one man – Heinrich Klaasen. From his first ball – when he punched a back of a length delivery through the cover region, he looked head and shoulders above the rest in the lineup which has failed to click in unison.
