Sunrisers Hyderabad ran into an in-form Shubman Gill, who crafted his maiden IPL century in 55 balls. He fell soon after reaching the landmark and as a result, the batting performance in the death overs was quite a far way off from what Gujarat Titans would have liked. They stuttered their way to 188 after the wily old fox that is Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up a five-wicket haul, including three wickets in the final over. He also effected a run out in the same over to effectively achieve a team hat-trick.
The defending champions were 147/1 at one point and were well set for a big finish but SRH have pulled things back spectacularly at the end. Bhuvneshwar finished with 5/30, his second five-fer in the IPL.
Mohammad Shami then stunned Sunrisers Hyderabad in the chase with a three-wicket haul upfront, killing the chase for good. SRH could only manage 154/9 as GT became the first team to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2023.
A team hattrick & a 🖐️-wicket haul – this final over was a Bhuvi masterclass!
