Tame reverse sweep brings an end of Maxwell’s knock

Royal Challengers Bangalore fetched a NRR-boosting win and consolidated their chances of punching a ticket to the playoffs in Indian Premier League 2023 by restricting Rajasthan Royals to 59 in a 172-run chase. Meanhwile, the heavy defeat pegs Rajasthan back in the race, with only one league game to go. In the chase, Rajasthan lost as many as five wickets in the PowerPlay, and the writing was on the wall immediately.

Earlier, 51 runs were scored in the last five overs at just over ten an over, as Glenn Maxwell went ballistic to usher Royal Challengers Bangalore to 171-5 in 20 overs. He didn’t last particularly long after his fifty, falling to a tame reverse-sweep.

A couple of wickets by Adam Zampa and Sandeep Sharma put the breaks on the Royal Challengers Bangalore innings, but a handy cameo by Anuj Rawat ensured that the visitors set Rajasthan Royals a competitive target at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
