Gurbaz settles under the swirling ball to prise out Curran

Kolkata Knight Riders wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz grabbed hold of a top edge to remove Sam Curran off the bowling off Suyash Sharma, who picked up his first wicket of the match against Punjab Kings. The hosts managed to chase down the 180-run target thanks to a quickfire fifty from skipper Nitish Rana.

Previously, Wriddhiman Saha (81 off 43) and Shubman Gill (94* off 51) sent the Lucknow Super Giantsโ€™ attack on a leather hunt, with their gigantic 142-run opening partnership setting the tone for Gujarat Titans to post a formidable 227/2. Kyle Mayers and Quinton de Kock started spiritedly in reply but clinical bowling from Gujarat Titans knocked the wind out of their sails. Mohit Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for GT, finishing with 4-29 from his four overs.

The Gujarat Titans openers pummeled six sixes and as many fours in the PowerPlay. Gill was happy playing the second fiddle but he also creamed a couple of sixes off leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi as GT cruised to 78/0 in the first six overs โ€“ their highest PowerPlay score and also the fourth highest in the PP this edition.
