Mumbai Indians pulled off a second consecutive 200+ chase, against the Punjab Kings in Mohali, gunning down 215 in the nineteenth over. Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone catapulted Punjab to a massive total, but fiery knocks by Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav eclipsed them as Mumbai Indians eased home with seven balls to spare. It was the first time an IPL franchise had chased down successive 200+ targets.
Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants made a hash of things. The crown jewel of the five dismissals Chennai Super Kings inflicted upon Lucknow Super Giants by the halfway stage was Ravindra Jadeja unfurling a brute to hit the top of off to get rid of Marcus Stoinis.
Having cleaned up Manan Vohra early on, Mahesh Theekshana conceded 15 runs in the 17th over and then Chahar, looking off-color on his comeback, gave away 20 in the 19th over. These were crucial runs fetched by Lucknow Super Giants before the drizzle got heavier. Badoni scored a well-made fifty off 30 balls on a pitch which hadn’t been the easiest to bat on.
An early wicket for Rishi Dhawan & @PunjabKingsIPL and it's the big one of the opposition skipper!
Rohit Sharma departs in the first over.
