Kohli, Gambhir docked 100 percent fines over heated exchange

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, who were involved in a tense verbal exchange after the low-scoring affair in Lucknow went the visitors’ way, have been fined 100 percent of their match fees for a Level 2 breach of the IPL Code of Conduct. Meanwhile, a 50 percent cut was levied on Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq.

Kohli didn’t hold himself back during the Royal Challengers Bangalore defence, celebrating rather aggressively after dismissals. He even put his finger over his mouth, shushing the crowd at the Ekana Stadium following the dismissal of Krunal Pandya, perhaps a gesture in retaliation to Gambhir’s similar act at the Chinnaswamy Stadium after Lucknow Super Giants’ narrow victory.

Naveen and Kohli were involved in a heated conversation on more than one occasion, while the RCB batter was had a minor altercation with Amit Mishra on the field.
