Theekshana bounces back to dismiss dangerman Roy

Kolkata Knight Riders succumbed to their fourth loss on the bounce in Indian Premier League 2023, with the string of defeats consigning the franchise to the bottom half of the table.

Tushar Deshpande and Akash Singh struck once each to get rid of the Kolkata Knight Riders openers. Both Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana could not do much damage after biding their time at the crease. Iyer was trapped LBW by Moeen Ali while Rana holed out against Jadeja. However, Jason Roy announced his arrival with three consecutive sixes off Moeen Ali and went on to smash a belligerent 61 off just 26 balls to infuse momentum into the KKR innings. Mahesh Theekshana ended up yorking Roy, who went for the big sweep but was clean bowled.

Earlier, Devon Conway holed out to long off after a 40-ball 56 but CSK moved up gears after his departure. Rahane took the initiative thumping 22 off Umesh Yadav in an over while Shivam Dube jojned the party as well, tonking the spinners and drilling the medium pace of David Wiese. The duo put on a 50-run stand off just 16 balls, leaving CSK with a launchpad for a robust finish.
