The early dismissal of lynchpin Shubman Gill saw Hardik Pandya promote himself up to number three. The Gujarat Titans captain steadied the ship and got the score to an underwhelming 40-1. Krunal Pandya was the one to get the better of the in-form Gill for a duck, with Ravi Bishnoi at long-on proving safe as houses.
Following the rebuilding done by Saha and Hardik Pandya, Krunal and Amit Mishra struck in quick succession to put the kibosh on the scoring rate again. Eventually, a 19-run over with a couple of sixes and a four brought Gujarat into the game. Hardik cut loose and hammered Ravi Bishnoi en route to his fifty, while David Miller struggled to score and despite losing only four wickets at the beginning of the 19th over, Gujarat managed a lowly total of 135/6.
Hardik ran out of steam and made the walk back to the dugout in the final over, but after amassing practically half of the team’s runs, it’s safe to say the skipper had done his job.
