Rahmanullah Gurbaz bags a duck in steep chase

Chasing 229 was always going to be a tough ask for Kolkata Knight Riders, and losing Rahmanullah Gurbaz early for a duck isn’t ideal from their perspective. Washington Sundar has come on as an impact sub for centurion Harry Brook. It’s humid out there in Kolkata.

Sunrisers Hyderabad rode on Brook’s pyrotechnics to post a formidable figure upon being asked to bat. Whether dew comes into play or not, the orange brigade will take this total happily. Brook had a poor run this far playing on pitches that weren’t batter friendly, but he saw a featherbed here, along with small boundaries and pounced on the opportunity.

KKR came up with some really poor new ball bowling, but spin brought them back as Brook shut shop. The shots he played looked effortless, as the ball flew in all directions at the Eden Gardens.

”I’ve had a bit of trouble with spin, but I wanted to use the powerplay to my advantage. So middle overs wanted to rotate strike and let the other boys do the hitting. It is a belter of a pitch, we need to bowl our lengths rightly and take wickets,” Harry Brook reflected on his maiden IPL century.
