West Indies and South Africa entertained fans to the hilt once again to cap off the thoroughly enjoyable series on a high, with the former T20 World Champions coming out on top by a slim margin. Even though the visitors didn’t have even a single half-centurion in their innings, they managed to post a formidable 220 on the board and went on to defend it it despite Reeza Hendricks’ whirlwind knock in the second half of the game, thanks to an impressive five-fer from Alzarri Joseph.
South Africa ticked all the right boxes but it’s the little things that made the difference at the end of the day. The rampaging Riley Rossouw got a top edge and fell for 42 despite cudgeling a six earlier in the over. Even though Hendricks served the mantle of the chief aggressor post his dismissal, David Miller couldn’t quite get going, wasting a few deliveries before being dismissed for a run-a-ball 11. 26 from the final over was always going to be a tough ask as South Africa fell short by 7 runs despite three boundaries from Aiden Markram, who clean bowled Rovman Powell earlier in the game.
When Reeza Hendricks is in full flow it’s a beautiful sight to see 🤩#SAvWI pic.twitter.com/aRdlsDKtff
