Taskin Ahmed beats Paul Stirling’s agricultural swing to hit timber

Ireland huffed and puffed for a while, but ultimately Bangladesh were able to register a comfortable win in the 1st T20I at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Paul Stirling took down Nasum Ahmed in the first over, going hell for leather from the first ball. His partner Ross Adair also scored a few boundaries, as lead pacer Mustafizur Rahman proved expensive in his first over too. Hasan Mahmud bowled a brilliant over, picking up Adair and conceding just five runs. Then Taskin Ahmed backed it up with a dream over of his own, picking three wickets off his first four balls, practically ending Ireland’s vigil.

Harry Tector hung around for a bit, but the experience of Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim proved to be too much. It could have infact been an embarassing defeat for the Irish had it not been for the rain that ate away big chunks of play today.

Ireland are trailing again, but they have a chance to even the scores come Wednesday.
