Arshdeep Singh has inked a deal with Kent for the County Championship’s 2023 season, the club confirmed on Friday, March 17. The young left-arm pacer will be available to play five matches in June and July as an overseas player for Kent, subject to regulatory approval.
“We’re delighted to have a player of Arshdeep’s potential join us for five matches this Summer,” Kent’s Director of Cricket, Paul Downton, said. “He has demonstrated that he has world class skills with the white ball, and I am very confident he will be able to put those skills to good use with the red ball in the County Championship.”
Arshdeep will become the fourth Indian player to represent Kent, and the third overseas player confirmed by Kent for the upcoming season. George Linde will return to play all formats as part of the two-year deal he had signed while Kane Richardson has been signed to play the T20 Blast.
Arshdeep made his India debut last year in both T20Is and ODIs and has earned 29 caps already for the national side. He gave a good account of himself in the T20 World Cup 2022. Even though he has played just seven first-class matches so far, his stocks have risen in recent times ever since he burst onto the scene in the Indian Premier League.
“I am excited to play red-ball cricket in England and continue to improve my skills in the first-class game,” Arshdeep said. “I look forward to performing in front of Kent’s Members and supporters; Rahul Dravid has already told me it is a Club with a great history.”
