‘Our biggest win in the shortest format’ – Habibul Bashar on England clean sweep

Bangladesh are brimming with confidence after whitewashing T20I champions England in the three-match series at home. The clean sweep is all the more sweeter, given that the home side had conceded the ODI series held earlier this month.

Whether it is their grandest win in shortest format till date is subject to debate considering the Asian Tigers have also defeated New Zealand and Australia. However, those results proved barely beneficial in the long run as they lost all the matches of the group stage in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2021.

The approach taken by Bangladesh at that time came under the scanner as the wickets were low and slow which forced the oppositions to capitulate. However, against England, it was certainly a different ball game which indicates that it’s a new start for Bangladesh.

“This series win (against England) is definitely our biggest win in the shortest format. We won against Australia and New Zealand but there were talks regarding wickets and all those things but this time round it was not the case and even then we beat the world champions,” Habibul Bashar, member of BCB’s selection committee said.
