Dawid Malan, Jos Buttler dismissed off consecutive balls

The wickets of well-set batters Dawid Malan and Jos Buttler at an opportune juncture opened the floodgates as Bangladesh tightened the noose to clean sweep England in the T20I series with a 16-run win in the third T20I in Dhaka on Tuesday, March 14. A sound batting performance was followed by a well-oiled show with the ball, with Litton Das being adjudged the player of the match for his 57-ball 73.

Najmul Hossain chipped in with 47 not out off 36 to help Bangladesh post a competitive 158/2. A 95-run partnership between Dawid Malan (53 off 47) and Jos Buttler (40 off 31) kept England on course but Bangladesh triggered a stunning collapse, picking up the last six wickets for 28 runs to inflict a memorable whitewash.

Rony Talukdar and Litton hit six boundaries between them to enable Bangladesh to 46/0 in the powerplay. Although the wily Adil Rashid, who sent down two overs in the powerplay, conceded only 11 runs, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer and Curran gave away 34 runs between them as Bangladesh started on a promising note. They went from strength to strength before losing the plot at the death, but the consolidation of momentum in the middle phase ensured a challenging total was put on the board.
