Mumbai Indians became the first team to qualify for the Women’s Premier League play-offs after beating Gujarat Giants by 55 runs at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Riding on skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s half-century, Mumbai Indians posted a stiff total of 162/8 in 20 overs. Harmanpreet was going great guns but her knock was cut short by a diving catch from Harleen Deol, who sped across from long-on. The dismissal happened on the fourth delivery of the 19th over as Harleen reinstated her credentials as the finest fielder in the Indian team.
After starting the inaugural Women’s Premier League campaign on a promising note with a massive 143-run win at the DY Patil Stadium against Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians once again got the better of their opponent with a confident show at the Brabourne Stadium.
