Jos Buttler smokes Mustafizur Rahman for a maximum

Jos Buttler goes big.

England aspire to keep their white-ball juggernaut rolling forward in the T20I series opener against Bangladesh which is underway in Chattogram on Thursday, March 9. The hosts fare well in ODIs – notwithstanding the 2-1 defeat to England recently – but quite a way behind in T20Is. So England started as the prime favourites, and they’ve dominated the contest so far as Jos Buttler and Phil Salt blaze off the blocks.

Bangladesh have rang the changes, bringing in five players including a fresh face in Towhid Hridoy. Shamim Hossain has come into the national fold after two years and Rony Talukdar after eight years. While Talukdar has delivered the goods in domestic cricket – he was the BPL’s second-highest scorer this season – Shamim’s return probably hinged on a solitary show of promise in this season’s BPL, the 51-ball 71 for Rangpur Riders against Fortune Barishal. The Asian Tigers have also included fast bowler Rejaur Rahman Raja and left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam, rewarding their BPL exploits.
